The University of Bedfordshire is a public university .It was formed by the merger of the University of Luton with De Montfort University's Bedford campus in August 2006. The University currently has 5 campuses: Luton, Bedford, Milton Keynes, Aylesbury and Putteridge Bury , offering courses in creative arts, sport, science, social sciences, business and a range of other subjects. It is a vibrant, forward-thinking university with a diverse population of 22,000 students from more than 120 countries.

Key statistics

Located in the town centre, the university’s Luton campus is home to seven departments, the students’ union and the Postgraduate and Continuing Professional Development Centre. Housing the Physical Education and Sports Science Centre and a number of lecture theatres and specialist labs, the Bedford campus is 20 minutes from Bedford town centre on foot.  Situated just north east of Luton, the Butterfield Park campus plays a key part in nursing and midwifery courses. A number of the University of Bedfordshire’s health courses take place at its Buckinghamshire campus in the town of Aylesbury.

Graduates of Bedfordshire university are often rated as having good prospects for work or further study. A large proportion of its research output has been considered of an international standard and quality, and the university operates a total of 11 research institutes. In the latest national research audit, the university performed well in the fields of health, social work and social policy and English language and literature

English Language Requirements

  • English entry requirements are IELTS 6.0 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each band.

  • If an applicant has achieved a lower IELTS score, the university may be able to offer pre-sessional English (please note, a UKVI approved IELTS test must have been taken for pre-sessional English to be an option).

  • If students have alternative English qualifications the university will be happy to assess whether these are sufficient to fulfill the English requirement.

  • TOEFL iBT - 72, > Listening: 17, Reading: 18, Speaking: 20, Writing: 17
  • Pearson PTE - Listening: 59, Reading: 59, Speaking: 59, Writing: 59.

Academic Entry Requirements

  • Undergraduate - Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) / Standard 12/ XII with a minimum score of 60% overall. (Only 3 years gap is acceptable)

  • Postgraduate - Four year Bachelor degree with a minimum of 2.2 GPA  Or (55% or above)

  • Additional course requirements if any (see Faculty Course Requirements)

  • Indian Class XII - English minimum 70% from the following boards only CBSE, ICSE, West Bengal, Karnataka, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu.Maharashtra
