Cardiff Metropolitan University , formerly University of Wales Institute, Cardiff (UWIC), is a university situated in Cardiff, Wales. It is one of the leading new universities in Wales, mainly due to its career-orientated courses that make graduates popular with employers. It's also a top sporting university with first-class facilities and a proud tradition of competition – and success. It operates from two campuses: Llandaff on Western Avenue and Cyncoed campus on Cyncoed Road.
The university has over 12,000 students. The university offers degree courses in a variety of disciplines. Study is available at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, full-time and part-time, and research opportunities are offered.
Cardiff Metropolitan University has a number of research and enterprise centres, including the Food Industry Centre, the Welsh Centre for Tourism Research, and the National Centre for Product Design and Development Research. Cardiff is a lively, cosmopolitan and fun-loving capital city, but still manageable and easy to get around. There's some lovely countryside within easy reach and good transport links to the rest of the UK.

Cardiff Metropolitan University has nearly 1,000 study bedrooms located at the Cyncoed and Plas Gwyn campuses.

In addition, the university allocates just over 250 en-suite rooms within private halls of residence to students.

As well as allocating students places in halls, the Accommodation Service also helps students find suitable accommodation off-campus.

Facilities for both halls include on site laundry, data room and communal TV room with vending machines.

The halls are in close proximity to shopping, banking and other facilities and students can also take advantage of the sports and leisure facilities at the Landaff campus as well as the extensive sports and recreational facilities located at the Cyncoed campus, including an indoor swimming pool, Students' Union bar/disco, indoor tennis centre and fitness suite.
