English language requirements:
Undergraduate Courses
If you have 70% or higher in English in the Indian HSC Intermediate (10+2) (XII Standard)
exam, you may be considered for an undergraduate study without a further English test on a case-by-case basis.
Postgraduate Courses
You should have 70% or higher in English in the Indian HSC Intermediate (10+2) (XII Standard) exam and have completed an undergraduate degree taught and examined in English within the past 2 years. If you graduated more than 2 years ago, we will consider your application on a case-by-case basis. If a student's first language is not English, they will need to provide evidence of their English language abilities. A number of English language tests are accepted, all which need to have been taken within 2 years of the course start date.
The 3 main tests and their requirements are:
IELTS: overall score of 6.0 with no individual component scores of less than 5.5
TOEFL Internet Based Test: overall score of 80 with a minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 20 in speaking and 17 in writing.
Pearson’s Test of Academic English: overall score of 56 with a minimum of 51 in each component.

Undergraduate Courses

To apply for bachelor’s courses, you should have completed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) with overall 60% or above in the Intermediate (10+2) (XII Standard) exam.

Advanced entry to year two students with grades over 75% and above in year 12 of CBSE, ISC and State Education boards across India may be offered a year 2 entry. Specific subject requirements may apply.

Accommodation for International Students

The university does not guarantee housing. However, it tries to accommodate all international students. 1st year undergraduate students are given priority.

Edinburgh Napier’s accommodation comprises self-catering flats with single bedrooms, shared kitchen and living room facilities and Internet access. It also offers twin rooms and studio bedroom options. The university’s accommodation is located in the city centre with all campuses located close to the centre – all campuses are easily reached by public transport.

International students are spread throughout the accommodation, rather than clustered together. Students do not have to move out of their accommodation during vacations: house contracts are for 1 academic year and include vacations within the academic year.

The university also provides support and guidance to international students looking to acquire private accommodation for their time studying in the city.

Bursaries and Scholarships

Edinburgh Napier offers a range of bursaries and scholarships designed to support undergraduate students through their studies.

All bursaries and scholarships have to be applied for over and above an individual’s application to the university.

Specific provision is also available to support widening access, with scholarships for care-experienced leavers and low-income students from the rest of the UK available.

Edinburgh Napier University will grant four awards in 2017/8 each to the value of £7,000.

Successful candidates will receive the award as a reduction in their overall tuition fee and will therefore not be eligible for any other University scholarship such as the South Asia Scholarships.
